Dr. Baruch-Bienen attended medical school at the University of Rochester School of Medicine & Dentistry, Rochester New York, graduating in May of 1995. In June of that year, she began her first active duty tour at Wilford Hall Medical Center (WHMC), Lackland Air Force Base as an Internal Medicine Resident.  She completed her internal medicine residency at WHMC in 1998, and remained there as a faculty member.

 

As a teacher of medicine, Dr. Baruch-Bienen's areas of interest include bioethics and end-of-Life issues. In her last two years on active duty, she directed the WHMC Eethics Committee. In June, 2002, she was honorably discharged at the rank of Major.  She then began her academic career with the University of Texas Health Science Center (UTHSCSA) in July, 2002, where her duties include the oversight and support of the Internal Medicine Residency at the Regional Academic Health Center, Harlingen, Texas.  She is an instructor of General Medicine and Bioethics for IM residents and medical students in all four years, as well as the Continuing Medical Education (CME) advisor for the Department of Medicine, and a member of the University Hospital's Ethics Committee.
