Chris Coppola, MD

Chris Coppola is the Section Chief of Pediatric Surgery at the Wilford Hall Medical Center at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He has served as the Consultant for Pediatric Surgery in Baghdad, Iraq for the Army's 44th Medical Command since 2005.
Coppola received his medical degree from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, completed his residency at Yale University School of Medicine, and his pediatric surgery fellowship at the Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.
In 2005, Coppola worked with his wife, Meredith, to publish a book on his experiences at a military support hospital in Baghdad during Operation Iraqi Freedom. A portion of the proceeds for Made a Difference for That One: A Surgeon's Letters Home from Iraq, a compilation of his letters to family and friends, have been donated to the Fisher House Foundation, a non-profit organization that assists hospitalized veterans and their families.
Coppola is certified with the American Board of Surgery and the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. He is also a member of the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
