Seeking Submissions for 2015

UTHSCSA's literature and visual arts journal is seeking submissions for the 2015 issue, expected to release in March 2015. Share your voice, and join us in cultivating the arts at the Health Science Center.

  • Submissions are welcome from students, faculty, staff, patients, volunteers and associates
  • Categories include written work (prose, essays, interviews, memoirs, narratives, short stories, poetry) visual art (painting, drawing, sculpture) and photography
  • Work must be your own and not previously published
  • We encourage submitting pieces related to healthcare, but this is not a prerequisite
  • Visual art should be submitted for primary review in digital format
  • Written work must be fewer than 2,000 words
  • Multiple submissions welcome - limit three submissions per category per person

Submissions/questions should be sent to by 11:59 PM, January 5, 2015.

Attention: Deadline extended for RAHC faculty and staff until 11:59 PM, January 19, 2015.

Please write the subject line in the format of:

"First and last name" - "Category (written, visual art, photography)"

In the body text, please write your affiliation (student, faculty, admin, etc), school or department, and title (MS#, DS#, MD, PhD, RN, etc). A volunteer selection panel will vote on anonymized pieces from each category and the editorial committee will review decisions for final publication. Edits on accepted pieces will not be allowed after February 15, 2015.

Interested in helping? We are also looking for volunteers for our annual selection panels.

CT needs volunteers each year for two selection panels—literature and visual art. Panelists need no background or experience and can be from anywhere in UTHSCSA, the only requirement is a desire to help select pieces for publication. Panelists review all pieces (anonymized) from a category and vote on pieces for publication each year. To sign up, simply email us with your name, school, and the panel you would like to be on (you may participate in one or both).
