Global Health ScholarshipsBookmark and Share

Engaging in global health is not easy for medical students for two important reasons: time and cost. While there is little that can be done about the issue of time, the Health Science Center and the CMHE have made efforts to reduce the cost of working on global health projects through two mechanisms.

The first is the Dean’s Travel Scholarship, offered by the Office of Student Affairs. This scholarship is available to any student (MSI-MSIV) enrolled in an elective course that emphasizes and prepares students for working in an overseas environment. For a list of electives that are offered by the CMHE and are approved by the Office of Student Affairs, please visit our Global Health Electives.

The second funding mechanism for Global Health is the Paul Brand Scholarship, offered by the Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics. The Paul Brand Scholarship is a competitive scholarship, which is only available to rising MSIVs.

Apart from these opportunities for funding from Health Science Center sources, there are various state and federal funding opportunities and fellowships for global health. Visit our External International Elective Resources page for potential resources.
