The Medical Ethics Discussion Society (M.E.D.S.) is one of the newest organizations on campus. Its purpose is to promote the discussion, importance and awareness of medical ethics in the Health Science Center community. Furthermore, M.E.D.S. aims to create innovative and enjoyable methods for facilitating ethical discussions. A committe within this group, called the Humanities and Ethics Advisory Committee, is dedicated to the prioritization and emphasis of ethics curriculum at the Health Science Center.

Donate $5 to MEDS and be an Extra in a Short Film

The Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics is creating a short film about how to complete advance directives using TexasLivingWill.org. This educational film will be used to teach medical students about this important patient-care issue, and it will also be submitted to film festivals across the country. M.E.D.S. is accepting donations for extra roles in this film for $5 each for non-speaking parts (60 available), and $50 or best offer for speaking roles (2 available).

Filming will be Tuesday, February 23 from 2:30-4 PM in the Dental School (room TBA). Those interested in participating as an extra should bring cash or check (made payable to The Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics) to the Center, located in Room N203 of the Annex Building, by February 19, 2010 at 5 PM. Speaking roles must be available from 9 am - 6 pm, and may be asked to audition.
