Rising MS IVs at UT Health Science Center San Antonio are invited to apply for a $2,500 scholarship to travel to an approved site for an international health experience during the 2013-14 Academic Year. Recipients will participate in a one-month (including travel time) International Medicine elective, INTD 7003. This 4.0-credit elective is offered through Internal Medicine and supervised by Ruth Berggren, MD.
These scholarships represent an opportunity to learn about the culture and practice of medicine in a resource-poor country. You'll experience medicine in an environment greatly different from what you have seen in the U.S. and you'll learn about the role of technology vs. the necessity for astute physical diagnosis skills. The Paul Brand International Medicine Scholarship is only for use to travel and learn at an approved site.
An information session will take place on April 17, 2014 from 12 - 1 pm in LIB 2.015 (Vtel to RAHC 1.132). This session will discuss the Paul Brand Scholarship, as well as INTD 7003 and INTD 4030.
The MS4 elective INTD 4030: Preparing for Global Health Work is required. This two-week elective course will be available this fall, and is scheduled during the first two weeks of Period 5.
