Objective
The goal of TREAT is to provide open platform to stimulate discussion on the contextual and ethical issues associated with conducting translation research among researchers affiliated with IIMS [e.g., UTHSCSA]. TREAT will encourage open debate; tackle hot topics and feature feedback and reflection among participants. The format will be very interactive and follow problem-solving and solution-focused techniques to ethical concerns raised by participants.
- Help researchers learn to identify ethical concerns encountered in their work
- Discuss the hidden curriculum of science
- Work toward finding workable solutions
Organization:
Advisory Committee, Moderators, and Staff will collectively be responsible for the forums' conception and technical maintenance. Advisory Committee: R. Clark, H. Abboud, R. Howard, N. Arar, C. Klugman, P. Chang.
Moderators: N. Arar, C. Klugman.
Staff: Divya Nandamudi, Stephanie McClain.
The Committee will meet semi-annually to evaluate and discuss the progress in achieving TREAT goals. Also, the Committee will provide ethical and legal advice on difficult questions raised by researchers.
