One Community/One Book

One Community/One Book is a partnership between the UT Health Science Center Libraries and the Center for Medical Humanities & Ethics. The UT Health Science Center’s first One Community/One Book selection was “Mountains Beyond Mountains: The Quest of Dr. Paul Farmer, A Man Who Would Cure the World.” That event brought Pulitzer Prize-winning author Tracy Kidder and Dr. Farmer, co-founder of the international aid charity Partners In Health, to campus in 2008. Since then, featured authors have included winners of the National Book Award, Pulitzer Prize, Guggenheim Fellowship, and MacArthur Fellowship. Thousands from the Health Science Center and San Antonio communities have attended author events and participated in book discussions.
