Challenges A challenge we faced was finding times to meet that would fit with everyone’s schedule and this was difficult because we had a large group with students in different programs, along with community ambassadors.
Lessons Learned One lesson we learned is that it is imperative to divide up the work between group members in order to ensure the project is conducted efficiently. Additionally, we’re really lucky to have been able to communicate with our faculty on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. For those who are looking to become involved in a CSL project, I believe they should ensure that they can communicate easily and frequently with their mentors.
Success Story A success story from this year’s cohort is that we had a family graduate from the program- the mother, father, and son. This family attended six out of nine sessions and they completed health related challenges. It was interesting to witness how different generations within a family learn from the sessions and incorporate the lessons onto their daily lives.
