Program Description

Founded in 1917, Chulalongkorn University (CU) is Thailand’s first institution of higher education with a vision of becoming a world-class national university, generating knowledge and innovation for the creative and sustainable transformation of Thai society. CU has been ranked the #1 university in Thailand for nine consecutive years and offers both undergraduate and graduate training through its 20 Faculties, including the Faculty of Medicine, 6 graduate institutes and 8 research institutes. Founded in 1947, the Faculty of Medicine emphasizes academic excellence through bachelor and graduate medical education programs. The Faculty of Medicine offers over 50 distinctive MSc and PhD, residency and fellowship training programs and collaborates with over 100 medical and scientific institutions including the WHO, NIH and MD Anderson Cancer Institute.

The Faculty of Medicine at CU offers courses designed specifically for foreign medical students and graduates in four-week blocks. Each block consists of an introductory discussion, small group activities, clinical experiences under supervision and self-education. The principal objective of these experiences is to familiarize students with local medical problems and the provision of health care services at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Thailand’s leading tertiary care hospital, which has over 1,500 beds and serves over 1.5 million outpatients per year. Students can choose courses in a variety of departments, including Anesthesiology, Medicine, Microbiology, Ob-Gyn, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Otolaryngology, Parasitology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Preventive and Social Medicine, Radiology and Rehabilitative Medicine.
